In the midst of the digital age, pause to admire the tactile beauty of the printed page. Join us for an illustrated talk on printing and hands-on demonstration of typesetting on a classic Adana letterpress machine.

Hear artist and printmaker Vicki Reynolds explain her creative process, then watch as a Francesca Sasnaitis’ poem is hand-set using letterpress technology – an intricate process where text is set letter by letter and line by line. Working with artists Marian Crawford, Greg Harrison, Francesca Sasnaitis and Trent Walter, the hand-printed pages will be collated into an artist book, combining poetry and the visual arts in a unique art form.

Presented in partnership with the Print Council of Australia.

About Francesca Jurate Sasnaitis

Me = Francesca Jurate Kristina Sasnaitis... also known as Jūrytė/ Jūrytėle/ Jūračiuk/ Jurachook/ U-Russia/ Urata/ Rata/ Jay-bird/ Jay-peg/ Miss J/ Big J/ France/ Franca.... Sasna/ Fox/ Greville/ Knight... and Nerada Netis... as far as I can remember... oh, and there's still room for Kristina... somewhere, sometime... Me = drew, painted, made sculpture, then stopped; printed photographs, then stopped; wrote, then stopped; made furniture, then stopped; made prints, then stopped; became a bookseller and stopped; wrote some more, kept writing some... and more... started painting again... sold a few more books... stopped... wrote some more, kept writing some... and more... and now seeing words, writing images... was that last bit too wanky? What goes around comes around, I guess...
